The South West of England has the greenest tourism economy in the UK. We have a stunning environment, with more land mass covered by National parks, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and World Heritage Sites than anywhere else in the country. Most of it is wrapped neatly in the stunning South West Coastal Path. This has been recognised on the national stage with The South West being shortlisted for both of the international awards for sustainable/ green tourism: We were one of three finalists in the Destination Stewardship category of the World Travel & Tourism Council's 'Tourism for Tomorrow' Awards. We were also long listed in the Destination category of Responsible Tourism Awards 2011.

 

CoaST is a tiny but vehement social enterprise,not core funded, working towards One Planet Tourism- ie a tourism providing benefits to the community, economy and the environment, operating within our social, financial and environmental means. We are a Social Enterprise, and have a team of three part-time staff, plus our Board of Directors.

 

CoaST is free to join and you will receive newsletters and update on the green tourism economy. There are lots of tools for you to use, and there is access to training, a forums and all the energy that a group like CoaST brings to he region.
