  • Support Organisations in Your Area & Beyond
    Many of the Destination Management Organisations around the region provide local advice and initiatives to help businesses ‘go green'. There are also a number of organisations that support specific sectors of the tourism industry.

    Netregs provides easy to understand and comprehensive information on complying with all aspects of environmental legislation - including specific information for the travel and hospitality sector. www.netregs.gov.uk

 

  • Events
    The Greener Events Guide and Checklist, developed by Government Office South West but now used nationally, provides easy to follow advice for businesses wishing to run events in a sustainable way. 

    BS8901 is the new British Standard for establishing a sustainable event management system.

    The Fairtrade Foundation website provides specific advice for sourcing and using fair-trade products in your business. Many local councils also provide listings of shops selling products.

    Taste of the West is the trade organisation for the SW food and drink industry and includes a new service for ordering local food and drink.    

    South West Food & Drink is the umbrella organisation for the development of the South West food and drink industry.

    This accreditation organisation allows people to choose wood-derived products from "forests managed with consideration for people, wildlife and the environment".

  • Reducing Your Carbon Footprint
    Fairshares Fairchoice - A climate change project for the South West that encourages people to gradually reduce their carbon footprint year by year to a globally equal share.

    The Soil Association Soil Association is the UK's leading organic organisation

 

  • Sustrans 
    Sustrans is the UK's leading sustainable transport charity and is best known for its national network of cycle routes.
