Regional Growth Fund

Regional Growth Fund

A consultation is currently taking place on the design of the government's proposed Regional Growth Fund - a £1bn investment into England over the two year period 2011/12 and 2012/13.

Responses are currently being sought from people and organisations across the public, private and community sectors.

The aim of this fund is to encourage private sector enterprise, including social enterprise, and in doing so create opportunities for people and places to adjust to reductions in public spending.

It is proposed that the fund will:

  • Encourage private sector enterprise by providing support for projects with significant potential for economic growth and create additional sustainable private sector employment; and
  • Support in particular those areas and communities that are currently dependent on the public sector so they can make the transition to sustainable private sector led growth and prosperity.

The consultation period closes on 6th September.
