It has been announced that John Penrose MP is the new Minister for Tourism and Heritage. His constituency is Weston-Super-Mare (where he has been an MP since 2005), so he will have an inherent understanding of the importance of tourism.
John Penrose has a strong business background, having worked in his earlier career for management consultants McKinsey and in banking for JPMorgan. In the Shadow Cabinet he was Minister for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform. He was also a member of both the Regulatory Reform and Work & Pensions Select Committees.
Prior to being elected to Parliament, he was a publisher and Chairman of Logotron Ltd, a small independent company creating educational software for schools, and used to be Managing Director of Longman, publishing school textbooks for the UK and parts of Africa.
