Free seminar showcasing new forecasting tools

South West Tourism and the Met Office have teamed up to provide a fascinating insight into the range of new localised weather forecasting tools that are available and how these might benefit the tourism industry.

The event will include a complimentary networking lunch and an exclusive behind the scenes tour of the Met Office forecasting centre.

11am - 11.15

Welcome from South West Tourism

• The importance of localised weather forecasts for the tourism industry and how the industry can use weather as a tool for their business to help in marketing, customer service and to increase repeat visits year round.

11.15 - 12.30pm

Met Office

• Delegates will hear about the different types of weather forecast that the Met Office produces, and what the industry can expect from these and the limitations.
• Communication issues around these forecasts.
• Showcasing of the new ways weather forecasts are now available- web, mobile and the relevance to the tourism industry.

12.30 - 1.00pm

• A two-way discussion about ways the Met Office might be able to help the industry

1pm - 1.45pm

• Free networking lunch

1.45-2.30pm

• A tour of the forecasting centre.
