Did you know that 10 million people in the UK have a disability; with an ageing population these numbers are growing. You cannot afford to ignore this market and there is a tangible business case to change and make your business more accessible.
The TACTALL course will enable you and your staff to understand functional diversity and how to make your business accessible and welcoming to all customers.
It is not all about installing ramps; there are many low cost or zero cost changes that can be made. In many ways it is about the attitude of your staff.
The course is designed to include attendance at 3 or 4 workshops, followed by some ‘distance learning' (home or work). It is a practical course and the participant will create an Action Plan for change and Access Statements. They will also understand how they can help people with varying disabilities, permanent or temporary and have an understanding of the legal aspects, where to go for support and how to work with other local businesses to make the whole area more welcoming for all visitors.
Although the course is based on tourism, it is also suitable for other service industries. Policy makers will also find it useful.
Workshops held at Norton Radstock College near Bath (except Workshop 1, which is at the Centurion Hotel, Radstock).
Workshop 1 24 February
Workshop 2 17 March (0930-1230)
Workshop 3 21 April (0930-1230)
In between workshops, there is 2 hours distance learning per week.
